Spine Fellowship

Stanford University and St. Mary's Medical Center

This fellowship offers a comprehensive approach to spine surgery. With the opportunity to work with six fellowship-trained spine surgeons, fellows are exposed to a wide variety of treatment options, surgical techniques, and innovative technologies. Six months are spent at Stanford University under the direction of Eugene J. Carragee, MD where approximately 600 cases are performed per year with 85% adult reconstructive, 10% trauma, and 5% neoplasm/infection procedures. Six months are spent at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco under the direction of James F. Zucherman, MD where over 500 cases are performed per year with 25% cervical, 75% thoracolumbar cases, all adult reconstructive procedures. Qualified candidates will have reasonable travel expenses paid to visit each medical center for formal interviews. This fellowship is not ACGME-accredited. Requirements for the fellowship include completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and a California Medical License.
